About
BIO
“I’m always evolving, always looking for the next trend in color and design. To translate these concepts into my work has not only become a passion in my life, but an innate need of my personality. Original art has a kinetic energy, an energy whereas you can almost feel the movement, the motion of the artist during its moment of creation.”
With over two hundred pieces of abstract art and installations sold over the past twenty years, Laurel Pitynski has become known throughout the Detroit area as an established abstract artist in both the residential and contract markets. With pieces sold not only throughout the United States, Canada, and Saudi Arabia, her work also includes showings in the Michigan Governor’s mansion, multiple showcase homes, hospitals, and the Detroit Children’s Museum.
After obtaining both Bachelor of Fine Arts and Master of Arts degrees from Michigan State University, Laurel went on to become the Color and Trim Specialist for Subaru of America. Extensive training in color and trim tracking led to high level presentations to both the Presidents of Subaru and Nissan in Japan. After relocations across the United States, and finally settling in the Detroit metro area, Laurel returned to her first love of abstract painting. Using a multi-range of color and special surface effects with a strong graphic basis, her work is constantly evolving. Her early innovative applications are sculptural configurations which transitioned into textural multi-level installations. Always with strong graphic design undertones, her current works utilize shimmering, more subtle surface effects.
Her work has been highlighted at TRA Art Group, DCF Art Gallery, Sherwood Studios, Detroit Artist Market, Michigan Design Center, and ArtResource Boston. Laurel Pitynski is available for a wide range of custom and commissioned artwork.
